   Prof. Kawahara was assigned to a chairperson of the consortium meeting.
5. Activity report (Prof. Kano)
   Prof. Kano reported the 2013 Engineering Science Student Workshop and the opening of the International Engineering Science Consortium Webpage.
   "Student Resume" in UCB was introduced, which instructs UCB students how to create a job for them. It will be distributed to the consortium members.
6. Action plans of International Engineering Science Consortium
   • (1) Assignment of consortium secretary
     • Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University has been assigned to the consortium secretary until the date of the Second International Engineering Science Consortium Meeting (see 8 below for the dates).
   • (2) Student exchange
     • In 2014, student exchanges will be done bilaterally under the agreements between the two consortium members. However, in the plan for dispatch or receipt of engineering science students, all the consortium members consider a possibility for overlapping their stay periods. NUS is supposed to have the Toronto and Osaka students in summer, and thus the possibility has been suggested that NUS would also have students from KTH and UCB in summer to overlap their stay periods. Although in 2014 the student workshop will not be held, some interaction is desired among them. Prof. Wang will have discussion with Prof. Attwood and Prof. Kari.
       In case of dispatch to UCB, the use of UC extension was suggested to reduce a tuition fee.
   • (3) Joint educational programmes (joint and/or double degree)
     • It has been agreed that the implementation of either joint- or double-degree programme is impossible for now.
       The following joint educational programme has been approved: (a) The information (or link) on available undergraduate and/or graduate engineering science courses is put in the consortium webpage.(b) In the webpage the several courses provided by the institutions are recommended its students to take by each institution.(c) The group of these recommended courses is called "International Engineering Science Programme."(d) If engineering science students take a few (say, two?) courses in another institution (hopefully or other institutions) in addition to those in their home institution, they are provided with "International Engineering Science Programme Certificate," being independent of whether or not their taken courses are recommended.
   • (4) Research collaborations
     • The list of key researchers who would like to perform research collaborations is put in the webpage. The information to be shown in the list is what is shown in the list provided by NUS in the meeting.
       Faculty workshop will be held in 2015 as the First International Engineering Science Symposium to enhance research collaboration (see 7 below).
       NUS has large money resources for research collaboration, which could be used for research collaborations of NUS with another institution. If the other institution obtains money resources for research collaboration, its information is put in the webpage.
   • (5) Promotion of engineering science
     • The advertisement letter of the establishment of the consortium will be written to be distributed to students, institutions, companies, and so on.
       The candidates of new consortium members will be considered by each member, so that the presence of the consortium can be improved by including distinguished institutions. All the candidates will be put together to be ordered, and then following their priority, a suitable member will persuade the candidate to participate in the consortium. The two candidates which agree on participation will be requested to attend the second consortium meeting as an observer to be officially approved to be a consortium member.
       In the webpage, the following information can be presented: (a) definition and differentiation of engineering science will be mentioned. Draft statements will be considered by Prof. Attwood and Prof. Wang.(b) availability of scholarship and job position in partner institutions can be shown.(c) conferences and workshops can be advertised.(d) achievement of academic staffs and students, the information of which would be useful for engineering science students, can be reported. If that is a paper, one of the authors should be an engineering science student.
   • (6) Others
     • The consortium logo will be designed. A maple leaf can be used for the shape of the logo. Prof. Kortschot and Prof. Kawahara will discuss its design.
       A possibility of establishment of international engineering science student association will be suggested to engineering science students in each institution. UCB and Osaka already have a student association in their school. In the second student workshop the establishment of the student association could be suggested to students of all the institutions.
7. Student Workshop 2014
   The student workshop is held every two years, so that in 2014 it will not be held. The second student workshop will be held on May 19 and 20, 2015 in Singapore. The first International Engineering Science Symposium will also be held to enhance research collaborations among the consortium members on the same dates as above in Singapore.
8. 2nd Consortium Meeting (2015)
   The second international engineering science consortium meeting will be held on May 19 and 20, 2015 in Singapore.
